In this area lies one of Costa Rica’s most notable natural features, the Arenal Volcano. This 3,740 foot volcano has been inactive since 2010, but it’s still quite a sight to behold.
It’s surrounded by mostly primary rainforest, teeming with various species of monkeys, birds, reptiles, and plants. With activities such as whitewater rafting, fishing, hiking, and spelunking this area is a nature and adventure lover’s dream.
Thanks to the volcano, there are also a number of hot springs in the area. Many have been converted into retreats featuring wet bars, water slides, and cold pools, making them an ideal place to end a day of adventure.
